Privacy Policy

For Docksy · Effective date: June 24, 2026

Docksy is built so that your stuff stays yours. This policy explains, in plain language, exactly what Docksy does and does not do with your information. The short version: Docksy collects nothing about you, sends nothing to us, and has no servers, no account, and no tracking.

The short version

What Docksy is

Docksy turns a spare iPhone or iPad into a grid of glass buttons that control your Mac. You tap a button on the device, and an action runs on your Mac, like a keyboard shortcut, opening an app, adjusting the volume, or starting a timer. The iPhone or iPad app works together with the free Docksy companion app on your Mac.

How your devices talk to each other

Your iPhone or iPad and your Mac find each other on the same local Wi-Fi network using Apple's Bonjour discovery. Once they find each other, they exchange information directly over your local network. Nothing travels over the internet, and nothing passes through any server owned by us or anyone else.

This is why the app asks for Apple's Local Network permission. Without it, your device cannot find your Mac, and Docksy cannot work. We use that permission for the single purpose of connecting your own devices to each other on your own network. We do not use it to scan, identify, or report anything about your network or the devices on it.

What data exists, and where it lives

The only data Docksy works with is the deck profile you create: the layout of your buttons, their labels, colors, icons, and the actions you assign to them. You build this yourself, and it is stored locally:

This profile is sent only between your own devices, only over your local network, and only so your buttons can do what you told them to do. It is never uploaded anywhere, and we never see it.

What we collect

Nothing. We do not collect names, email addresses, contacts, location, usage statistics, crash reports, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or anything else. There is no mechanism in Docksy to send your information to us, because there is no "us" on the other end. There are no servers and no backend.

Third parties

Docksy contains no third party analytics, no advertising networks, no tracking libraries, and no third party SDKs of any kind. Nothing about you is shared with anyone, because nothing about you is collected in the first place.

Children

Docksy does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The app is safe to use at any age in this respect, since there is no data collection at all.

Open source

Docksy is free and open source. You are welcome to read the code to confirm everything stated here for yourself.

Changes to this policy

If Docksy ever changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and change the effective date at the top. Because Docksy has no servers and no contact with your device after you download it, the way to see any update is simply to revisit this page.
